Children’s Service Board

The Children’s Service Board is a group of women dedicated to philanthropy in support of vital programs at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago through service opportunities, collaborative energy, and purpose-driven fundraising. Since affiliating with the hospital in 1918, the Children’s Service Board has been one of Lurie Children’s most active and successful philanthropic affiliated organizations, supporting the hospital’s mission of providing healthcare excellence to children and families throughout the Chicago area and beyond. The Board is comprised of approximately 60 committed women, from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for serving the hospital and its patients.

Some of our most notable recent campaigns include the following:

In 2018, the Children’s Service Board embarked on a $3 million commitment to the Department of Family Services. The department, which is funded entirely by philanthropy, includes a number of essential programs like social work, creative arts therapies, educational support and chaplain services that help normalize the hospital experience for the patients and families. The Children’s Service Board exceeded this commitment by nearly $600,000 and was able to provide the department with a new named position, the Children’s Service Board Child Life Specialist, in 2021.

In January 2022, the CSB has made a $2 million commitment to the Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. They have successfully exceeded this by $300.000. The commitment focused on improving access to care, building up specialized expertise and expanding research and innovation with the goal for the Lurie Children’s mental health providers to reach a broader range of children and intervene at an earlier age, reducing long-term mental health before entering adulthood.

As of January 2024, The Children’s Service Board made a meaningful two-year, $2 million investment to the Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation Fellowship Program at Lurie Children’s. This commitment will increase the number of fellows able to train and practice as the demands of specialized care grows.

The Children’s Service Board’s signature event is the highly successful Gold Coast Fashion Show, now in its 68th year. Other primary fundraising vehicles include the fashion show, major gifts, Move for Kids and multiple fundraising events throughout the year.
